Similar to a standard mil-spec extractor spring except this one is extra stiff. Recommended if you have a barrel 16" or longer, with a carbine length (9.75") gas system. The relatively shorter gas system on a longer barrel is harder on the extractor because the extraction cycle happens so fast. Some companies offer an O-ring to prevent extractor bounce, but the rubber degrades over time, whereas this spring will last much longer being steel instead of rubber. Not recommended to use an O-ring with this spring due to overkill. Using a stronger spring is also reported to help ensure successful extraction in these situations: - shooting NATO pressure ammo from a dirty chamber - shooting steel-cased ammo, where the case takes a longer timeto shrink - overgassing This won't solve your overgassing issue, but if you like the gas level where it is and you simply want to guarantee ejection, a power spring can help. Typically a Mil-Spec extractor spring will throw cases near 4 o'clock. This stronger spring throws them around 2-3 o'clock. In general, springs are wear items and degrade over time so it is wise to keep one or two extractor springs of some kind in the toolbox.
