Special "Thanks" to the great team at The Range Complex, outside of Ft. Bragg, for letting us train & film on some of their great ranges and training areas. If you are in NC, and are looking for great training; start at The Range Complex. Everyone talks about "Realistic Training." Realistic training requires developing combat skills to deal with threats in a 360-degree environment. The problem is that most shooters only shoot on square ranges. We understand that this is often a legal restriction, dealing with range fans of public range complexes. However, this often lends to shooters developing what we call a "Square-Range Mentality;" where shooters often develop bad habits, like never seeking cover, never scanning for more threats, and only shooting in one direction (down range) comfortably. Realistic "Combat" training requires mastering the basics. Not just the basics of marksmanship, but also the basics of fire & maneuver, use of cover, team work, and shooting around barricades. When we mention "Barricades;" everyone nods and say that they often shoot around barricades if they are on the range; using them for support for longer shots. We even have whole videos on how to shoot around or using barricades; dozens of videos of barricades all over the web. Most people are missing the point with these barricades... Yes, they are just made out of plywood, and yes, they do have ports for you to shoot through. However, don't just think of them as plywood supports; think of them as two dimensional representations of walls, buildings, and vehicles. These range barricades give you the opportunity to train, in a safe manner, while replicating scenarios and environments that you may someday find yourself in. Gotta do a Reload?... Move behind Cover (using the barricade). Need to practice odd shooting positions? ... Use odd barricades to force yourself to shoot positions that you normally wouldn't shoot from. There is an old saying: It is better to sweat in Training, than to Bleed in Combat." Make your training as realistic as possible. Make your mistakes here, in the safety of a secure range fan with plywood barricades that will forgive you if you shoot "The Concrete Wall" 6 inches in front of your barrel. Sorry, we don't add fancy "Pew, Pew Shooting" or "Speed Running Around" set to exciting music... Just long-winded me, and all the voices in my head. I hope you enjoy the video. Strength & Honor, TR.
