In this video I’ll tell you how our police forces were armed in the 19th century. In some cases, the handguns issued to police were surprising to me, and some of them might surprise you too. In this video I’ll concentrate on arming the police forces in our major American cities. In a future video I’ll look at the arms of Texas Rangers. And I’ll do an episode on the weapons of western lawmen and western bad men. Somewhere I’ll sneak in some information on arming the British police in the 19th century.
