Here's another great drill for you to try at your local maneuver range: Rifle Rundown Drill The shooter will begin at the 300 yard line wearing full kit. Full kit consists of body armor (with plates), five (5) M4 magazines loaded with two (2) rounds each, one (1) M4 magazine loaded with 28 rounds, M4 rifle with Optic, Pistol and three, fully-loaded magazines. This event is timed and carries a two (2) minute standard. A range safety officer will initiate the course of fire with a shot-timer and it will end when the last round is fired from the seven (7) yard line. All reloading of the weapon should occur with the magazines containing two (2) rounds. The magazine containing 28 rounds should only be as a last resort, such as dropping a magazine during the course of fire, malfunctions, etc. • At 300 yard line, facing downrange, the shooter will lock-and-load a two (2) round M4 magazine. • Upon hearing the shot-timer, the shooter will run to the 200 yard line / assume a prone position / engage the body of an IPSC target with two rounds • Run to the 100 yard line / magazine change on the move / assume a kneeling position / engage the body of an IPSC target with two rounds • Run to the 50 yard line / magazine change on the move / remain in a standing position / engage the body of an IPSC target with two rounds • Run to the 25 yard line / magazine change on the move / remain in a standing position / engage the head of an IPSC target with two rounds • Run to the 7 yard line / magazine change on the move / remain in a standing position / engage the head of an IPSC target with two rounds Not only must the shooter meet the time standard, but he/she must also register a score of 80% (or better) to both the body and head portions of the IPSC target. Passing scores are as follows: • Body: 24 points • Head: 16 points Of course, we raised the bar for Imri, as we always train to hit the "High A-Zone" on our VTac targets, where the heart and vital plumbing is located. If all you have available are standard IPSC targets; draw a line dividing the center A-Zone in half. Then, score hits as only those in the High (upper half) of the A-Zone. Full disclosure: Our range does NOT go back to 200 meters. So, Imri actually shot the first firing position from slightly closer than 200 yards (173 meters), as that was as far back in my fruit tree orchard as Imri could get shots. Yes, we could have driven out to the sniper range, but that would have made for more mowing and I'm lazy. True to all TR videos; we are not afraid to show when we miss. So, we had Imri shoot this drill "Cold" with no warm up; and yes we are showing that he did indeed miss too many shots. We are normal everyday guys. Yes, we miss. Yes, we fail. That is how we get better. I hope you enjoyed the drill. It will get your heart moving a bit. Have fun with it. Add other changes and make it your own. Strength & Honor, TR.
