How To Be A Grenadier and use the Garand | Tactical Rifleman History Lesson

Early last year we did a series of videos showing generations of combat uniforms for the US military from WW-I to present day. You can find them in our video archive. We want to build another series of video off of that series; dealing with the weapon systems of each era. Where to start? FIrst, let's start with introducing Rick Lamb... CSM(Ret) Rick Lamb has been collecting military uniforms, weapons, and equipment his whole life. As a historian, he appreciates that history not only repeats its self; but you can see patterns of innovation. As he puts it: We always take a "Face Shot" at the start of a new conflict, because we are fighting with gear from our last war. Peacetime militaries often go back to being "spit-n-polish", with pretty soldiers better trained & equipped for parades than combat. After the initial "face shot," we see great innovation; necessity truly is the mother of invention. In this video, CSM Lamb shows us the iconic M-1 Garand battle rifle. Yep, we love it; everyone loves it. How about something new? Well, leave it to Rick to also bring the gear that a Grenadier would carry; including rifle grenades, quadrant sight, data sheet, blanks and adaptor. Crazy stuff. While I have shot tons (literally) of 40mm grenades; I have never messed with rifle-fired grenades. This was fun to play with; a little cold, but very educational.
