The Alberta government is planning to invest millions of additional funding into the office of the Chief Firearms Officer over the next two years, aiming to speed up firearms sale and transfer applications. Premier Jason Kenney and Justice Minister Tyler Shandro announced Thursday the government will invest an additional $700,000 this year, $7 million next year and $5.2 million in the following year to hire 40 new positions under Chief Firearms Officer Teri Bryant. The expansion of resources is to support the processing of licence applications, transfers and authorizations to carry within Alberta.
