FLASHBACK to 2021: Expert says illegal handguns, NOT lawful semi-auto rifles or long guns, to blame

In February 2021, well before Marco Mendicino took over the Liberal gun control file, University of Toronto sociology associate professor Jooyoung Lee, an expert on gun violence, said the federal government needed to look at the root causes of gun violence and invest in vulnerable communities. Based on his knowledge and experience, Mr. Lee suggested Bill C-21 wouldn't have any measurable impact on gun crime as previous measures like it haven't historically.
