Subgun for home defense | Tactical Rifleman

There's lot of talk about how popular Pistol Caliber Carbines have become. Some complain that it doesn't have enough knock-down power. However, if size and weight are an issue, you can get great performance from a Pistol Caliber Carbine. That's because the ammo is already designed for short "Pistol" barrel lengths. Running 5.56mm through the same short barrel length, and you just end up gettinga huge fireball, because half the gun powder still hasn't lit yet when the bullet leaves the barrel. This also equates to the 5.56mm bullet not speeding up enough, resulting is basically hitting the target with the force of a 22LR. Now, I'm not saying that the Pistol Caliber Carbines should replace adult rifles... not at all. However, if you have physical limitations, are small in stature & strength, or have others in your household that are; then the PPC might be a good Home Defense option for you.
