There are lots of different techniques for drawing from a concealed holster. Everyone has their favorite. Carrying a pistol concealed boils down to certain factors: the type of firearm, the type of holster, the type of cover garment. How you balance these factors will greatly effect how fast you can draw and how comfortable you can carry. Unfortunately, most people lean heavily towards comfort of carry, rather than speed of draw. This makes sense, because (hopefully) most of us will never have to draw from concealment to defend ourselves or our loved ones. That said, we still diligently carry; better to have and not need than to need and not have. We shoot every Sunday, 2pm after church, if I'm in town. Some days we work on pistol. Some days we work of rifle. Some days moving, some days static or long distance. However, we usually start the day with Zee's Cold Start Drill, then warm up pistol; and we always end the day with a drill called "Final-5" (Another video). That said, when I text out "Hey, we are doing EDC and Concealed Carry this weekend", I hate when guys show up wearing their IDPA "Photographer's Vest" or some other weird cover garment. "Is that what you wore all week?" and "Why didn't you wear that last weekend?" are always asked and the same answer is "Well, you said we were doing Concealed Carry today." My concealed carry starts every morning. I dry fire 5 or so reps in the mirror, with whatever outfit I plan on wearing for the day; then I load my EDC pistol and start my day. Start dry firing with the clothing you actually have on and it will change the way you dress. Think I'm joking? Try it. So, now that you are actually dry firing with that EDC pistol, instead of just carrying it to be cool; you need to decide which carry techniques you need to best master the balance of Speed & Comfort, by selecting the correct factors (type of firearm, the type of holster, the type of cover garment) to allow you to "save the day." Which bring us to this week's video. Jason & Imri are going to show you just a few of our preferred techniques for Drawing from Concealment. Again, there are dozens of great techniques out there. I encourage everyone to share their personal techniques in the comment section below. I am always looking for new techniques and skills. I try to learn and teach others every day. For example: Jason will mention the "Vampire" technique in this video. While they were talking about filming this video, I asked if they were going to show the viewers the "Vampire Technique?" They both looked at me like I had a horn growing out of my forehead. So, I showed them. Nothing hard or fancy; just a technique that I was shown over a decade or so ago. I don't even use it, but I practice it from time to time. Why? Because you never know when you might put on an outfit, winter coat or suit jacket, where you might need a technique different from your normal "ole reliable" technique. I hope you enjoy the video. I pray you never have to use these techniques Real World. Leave you comments below; you know I read them.
