I was shooting a match, a few years back, and the Range Officer said that "this pistol stage is Strong-Hand Only." Okay, I'm good with being accurate while shooting one-handed; but I want you to think about WHEN you might have to do this "for real" in a combat situation. Maybe you are carrying a litter or climbing a caving ladder. However, more than likely, if you are shooting one-handed, you have had your other arm injured. So, not only do you have to shoot one-handed; you also have to be able to reload and fix malfunctions one-handed. We have another video (actually 2), on one-handed pistol shooting, that you can find in our video archive, that covers shooting the pistol one handed. A separate video for Strong-hand, and another for Weak-hand side pistol shooting. What about shooting the rifle one-handed? Yep, you would just transition to your HAND gun. What if you don't have a pistol with you? What if your targets are over 100 meters away? You have a rifle; use it!!! In the middle of a gunfight, with your arm injured, is not the time to be trying to figure it out. So, practice one-handed rifle manipulations. Shooting / Reloading / Reducing Malfunctions. This can be done with all rifles. However, your manual of arms (technique) will be slightly different. Example: One handed AK drills are done different than one handed SCAR drills. Remember to work in Medical Training. I used a simple tourniquet in this video, just to give everyone the visual aid as to which arm was out of play. However, we do often use this in training. Step-1, seek cover (1-handed drills are slow). Step-2: Stop the bleeding. Tourniquets need to be where you can reach them and set up to use one-handed. Keep the Red Blood Cells in the Body!!! Then, Practice. Start dry-firing, so you can work out your own technique for your particular rifle. Then, build the proper muscle memory. Start slow and teach the brain what correct looks like. Speed will come with confidence & familiarity. I hope you enjoy the video. I hope you practice. I pray you never have to use these skills for real. Strength & Honor, TR.
