Being a reviewer of many things like watches, knives, MTs, and guns has given me an insight to marketing. Oh yeah, I also have a degree in Advertising and all the psychology behind consumer mindset too. Product placement exists in the mind of the consumer and it doesn't really matter if it's reality or not. They just have to believe it is. Slick ad campaigns can be very effective at this. Sometimes, like luxury watches for instance, you can convince people to pay $10,000 for an item that may cost $87.50 to manufacture. The same dynamic has happened with "precision rifles." For instance guys have been convinced that spending 3K on precision bolt action rifle is A OK in fact "required." It ain't. Many $400 guns tested here in TNP out shoot them and sometimes even rank better in SAWC. Enter the Kimber mountain rifles, the the 84M Adirondack model being the representative. It's extremely light...about the weight of a .22 rifle. We loved that! But they're also around $1600. We didn't love that. But for that they'll promise 1 MOA, exceptional durability, and super lightness. Let's test all of that. Come on into the Bunker for the results. Remember TNP is value oriented in all the gear recommendations so this rifle will have to perform to a very high level to be rec'd. Does the 84M perform up to expectations? Here I'll crack open the mystique and again function as your consumer advocate.
