The Colt 1862 Police revolver was the final gun produced in Colt’s cap and ball new line of streamlined revolvers. It was a five-shot, .36 caliber revolver built on the ,31 caliber, Model 1849 frame, to produce a reasonably powerful, but compact carry gun.
